Products and ecommerce productsfeedimportcsv

Connect a product feed

Without a catalog the bot can talk, but it cannot sell. A feed is the fastest way to give it your products, and it can be re-imported whenever your prices change.

Before you start

Turn on Settings → Chatbot settings → Enable ecommerce. Until you do, the Ecommerce menu is hidden and product search is disabled.

Step 1: Add a feed

  1. Go to Ecommerce → Product feeds
  2. Click Add New Feed
  3. Give it a Feed Name you will recognise, e.g. NL — main catalog
  4. Choose a Feed Type:
    • Google Shopping Feed — an XML feed, the recommended option
    • Custom CSV Feed — a CSV file served over a URL
  5. Paste the Feed URL
  6. Pick the Language this feed describes
  7. Click Save Feed

The URL must be publicly reachable without a login. Test it in a private browser window first.

Step 2: Import

Click Import on the feed row. Mikabot fetches the file, processes it in batches, and shows counters when it finishes:

CounterMeaning
Products in FeedItems found in the source file
Products in DBItems stored and searchable
Categories in DBCategories built from the feed
Last ImportedWhen the feed last ran

A gap between Products in Feed and Products in DB means items were skipped. The most common cause is a missing or duplicate id.

Step 3: One feed per language

Product data is stored per language. Add a separate feed for each language your site serves, and set its Language correctly.

The page warns you when a website language has no feed. See Multilingual setup.

Uploading a CSV instead

If you do not have a feed URL, go to Settings → Ecommerce → Product Management → Import Products:

  1. Choose an Import Type: CSV File Upload, CSV URL, or Google Shopping Feed
  2. Select the Import Language
  3. Upload the file — maximum 10 MB
  4. Click Import Products

Uploads are a one-off. They do not refresh themselves, so a URL feed is better for anything you update regularly.

Keeping the catalog fresh

Products change price and availability, and the bot repeats whatever it last imported. Re-import after every price change, promotion, and range update. Use Re-import on the feed row.

Existing products are matched by id and updated in place, so re-importing does not create duplicates.

Product limits

Your plan caps the total number of products across your chatbots. When you exceed it, imports stop adding products and the dashboard shows an Upgrade plan warning.

To bring the count down, either upgrade, or use Remove imported products on the Product feeds page. That deletes products and categories for one language and keeps the feed definition, so you can re-import later.

See Plans and usage limits.
